MAU – Malmö Universitet
Malmö University was founded in 1998 and have about 24 000 students, 250 PhDs and 2 000 employees. In addition to couses and programs in Swedish, the University offers 24 English-taught master’s degree programmes and 8 bachelor’s degree programmes, where Migration is one of the profile subjects.
Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare (MIM) was established in January 2007 as a research institute at Malmö University. It aims to strengthen the University´s s migration research profile, expanding its international network and building bridges to the world outside academia. MIM hosts the Willy Brandt Guest Professorship, a fully financed research position, which invites prominent scholars from all over the world.
Research at MIM aims to be interdisciplinary. Ethnographic methods and statistical analyses both have a home at MIM, but the goal is to combine methods, disciplines and perspectives. Some of the profile research areas are representations of migration in the media, museums, integration, citizenship, populist parties, public attitudes, and the causes and the effects of migration.
MIM is specialized in migration related research and has a long and successful history of carrying out large European research projects. Research projects range from locally funded research projects to EU projects.
MAU is leader of the Work Package on Context and policy approaches for young vulnerable migrants.
